Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was the second child of 10 kids born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple living in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence was her mother. She was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. his father was a skilled worker throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a local grocery store. Corcoran states her father was a drunk who did her mother a disservice and condescension. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran started in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending a Catholic primary school. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after not completing several classes in her first year.
