Catherine Anne O'Hara OC (born March 4, 1954)is a Canadian-American actress, comedian, and writer. O'Hara has been the recipient of many distinctions which include one Genie Award and a Golden Globe Award. O'Hara also was awarded two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, six Canadian Screen Awards, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2018, she was appointed an Officer of Canada. In 2020, she was presented with the Governor General's Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement award. O'Hara's first recognition as an actress while she was a member the The Second City improv comedy troupe in Toronto in 1974. Along with John Candy, O'Hara was part of the main ensemble cast for the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara, Candy, and Dan Aykroyd began work in Second City Television's sketch comedy series (1976-1984). O'Hara received high praise for her comedy acting and writing abilities which earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writer for a Variety Series in 1982. O'Hara was part of the newly formed Second City artistic Advisory Board, which was led by Stephen Colbert. Other members of the board were Dwayne Colbert. Tina Fey. Keegan–Michael Key.
